Commencement 2015

In the fall of 1973, America’s first black Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, herself a pioneer and powerful symbol of social justice in America, addressed the 254 students of LaGuardia Community College’s first graduating class, courageous idealists who rose to the challenge of transforming themselves and their families' lives by earning a college degree.

At LaGuardia’s 43rd commencement, the dream remains the same.

The Class of 2015 embodies students’ timeless desire to create prosperity and opportunity, to become leaders who empower their communities and strengthen the middle class, inspiring our nation.

Every year, we welcome individuals from more than 150 countries, each one with a unique story, journey and vision of a better future.
